ActiveReaction has its own in-house Research & Development department with more than 20 years of IT experience. Due to its vast experience in various technical disciplines, ActiveReaction is able to quickly and professionally respond to the wishes of its customers. ActiveReaction is not only technically independent of third parties, it is also on top of the latest technologies (e.g. TIM-Online™). |
Internet browsers/operating systems
It is impossible to test the client technology on every possible browser/operating system combination and personal configurations. That’s why ActiveReaction
has limited its client testing to the most popular and most frequently used configurations. ActiveReaction has successfully tested its client technology on
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (and higher) and Netscape Navigator 6.0 (and higher) under Windows 98 (Se), Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server
and the latest Apple® Mac™ configurations. In general, our client technology works on every browser that follows the HTML 4.0, JavaScript 3.0 and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
Document Object Model (DOM) Level 2 standards. Most modern browsers meet these conditions, although some personal configurations (e.g. disabled JavaScript) could hinder proper operation of the client technology.
Development environment
ActiveReaction has developed the software supporting its services completely independently and in-house. For both the client and server side, the following programming languages and technologies are used:
| Operating systems: | Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Server |
| Web servers: | MS IIS 5.0 and 6.0 |
| Database: | MS SQL server 2000 |
| Most important programming languages: | C++ (all server, generator and report-supporting components), JavaScript (client technology) and C# .NET (Data Analyser™) |
Security
If a client so wishes, ActiveReaction can enable SSL for all data sent to its servers. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is supported by all modern browsers and ensures
that all data is encrypted and can only be decoded by the ActiveReaction servers. SSL guarantees that no other parties can intercept survey definitions or responses.
Furthermore, all research data (reports) that you retrieve online (including access passwords) can be sent via SSL.
Our servers that collect and process survey responses are secured by firewalls. Apart from a 'bare-bones-installation' of MS IIS 5.0/6.0, only our own proprietary components run on these servers. All other add-ons, such as Active Server Pages (ASP), are disabled. Finally, our databases are well-shielded from regular Internet traffic, which means that your research results are only accessible to you and certain employees authorised by ActiveReaction.
